Last year, we launched the Saint Agatha School Scholar Awards, made possible by a generous grant from The Flatley Foundation in Braintree, MA. These awards provide a tuition credit for the school year for families enrolling or re-enrolling students in Grades K2 through 8. In early 2025, we will open applications for the 2025-2026 school year, as we’ve received notice that the grant has been renewed again for this year. The application form and more details will be announced in the new year, and we encourage all eligible families to apply!
Nancy Lynn Weiler, Director of Advancement, expressed gratitude to The Flatley Foundation: “We are profoundly grateful for their generous support and commitment, which empowers us to develop strategies to retain our elementary and middle school families in a competitive landscape.” These awards are strategically designed to improve student retention and ensure that high-quality Catholic education remains within reach for families, regardless of their financial background. In an era where rising tuition costs and financial barriers often limit access to quality education, these awards play a pivotal role in ensuring that the values and benefits of Catholic schooling are available to a diverse range of families. This not only promotes academic excellence but also builds a strong sense of community and belonging for students and their families.
By minimizing educational transitions, these awards help maintain stability in students' learning experiences. Frequent changes in schools or curricula can disrupt students' academic progress and emotional well-being. A stable educational path, where students remain in the same school from year to year, allows them to build stronger relationships with peers and teachers and engage more deeply with the curriculum. This continuity leads to more consistent learning outcomes and better overall development, both academically and personally. Principal Gregg Chambers further emphasized, “We equip students not only with academic knowledge but also with the critical thinking skills needed for their future success.”
In addition to promoting academic success, these awards also support the broader mission of Catholic education. They help preserve the Catholic faith within schools, ensuring that students continue to receive an education rooted in moral values, spiritual growth, and community service. This holistic approach to education shapes well-rounded individuals who are not only academically proficient but also compassionate and socially responsible. Through these awards, Catholic schools continue to play a crucial role in preparing future generations for both personal and societal challenges, all while ensuring that financial limitations do not stand in the way of a transformative educational experience.
The Flatley Foundation has a long-standing tradition of supporting educational and Catholic initiatives, underscoring its dedication to making a meaningful impact in our community. We encourage you to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity for your child's future!
