As winter sets in, we are reminded of the importance of warmth and community. This year, we are filled with immense gratitude and appreciation for the incredible generosity shown by everyone who contributed to our annual coat drive. A special thank you goes out to Amy T., an 8th grader at Saint Agatha School, whose dedication and leadership made this initiative possible for the second year in a row.
From October 7, 2024, to January 5, 2025, Amy organized a coat drive to collect gently used adult and children’s coats. The drive’s mission was simple but impactful: to provide warmth and comfort to those in need. And thanks to Amy’s tireless efforts and the generosity of our community, we have once again exceeded expectations.
This year’s coat drive saw an incredible response with a total of 461 coats donated by the families and parishioners of Saint Agatha School and the Parish. Donations were made at three convenient locations: one in the school lobby and two at the Parish, including one near the front entrance and another near the side door by the gathering room. Each coat donated will go on to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who are less fortunate this winter.
We are also deeply thankful to Anton’s Dry Cleaners in Braintree, who graciously volunteered their services to professionally clean each coat before it is distributed. This extra step ensures that each donation is not only warm but also fresh and ready to provide comfort to those in need.
Thanks to your support, these coats will be distributed to over 90 local nonprofits, social service agencies, and schools in the area. Each coat will be given free of charge, directly impacting individuals and families in need throughout our community. Whether it’s a child heading to school or a parent trying to stay warm during a cold commute, your contributions are making a real difference.
The outpouring of support for this coat drive is a testament to the spirit of service that defines our community. Your kindness and generosity embody the true meaning of community, and we are so fortunate to have you as part of this effort.
Together, we are not just collecting coats; we are offering comfort, hope, and warmth to our neighbors. As we continue through the winter months, let us all be reminded that small acts of kindness can have a big impact. Your involvement in this coat drive has proven that when we come together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Thank you once again for your continued support, and for helping us keep our neighbors warm this winter. We look forward to continuing to serve our community alongside each and every one of you.
