Meet Michael McGrath, a teen with a passion for making a difference. For the past three years, Michael has spearheaded a successful fundraising initiative to provide filled backpacks to Interfaith Social Services. This year, he's gearing up to continue this tradition with even greater enthusiasm. As part of his commitment, Michael will volunteer an hour of community service for each backpack filled, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to giving back.
2023 Backpack Drive
Michael's journey in service and leadership began at Saint Agatha School, where he attended from 2015 to 2021. Reflecting on his time there, Michael fondly recalls the supportive community and transformative experiences that shaped his early years in Catholic education. One standout memory from Saint Agatha School was the Olympic Games organized by Mrs. Lane.
The day was filled with excitement and camaraderie, complete with Mrs. Carr carrying an “Olympic” torch during the “Opening Ceremony.”
Michael's philanthropic initiatives started early in his life, beginning with his role as an altar server at Saint Agatha Parish and extending to projects like this year's Appalachian Service Project in West Virginia.
Looking ahead, Michael will be attending Xaverian Brothers High School in September 2024, where he looks forward to further developing his academic and community-focused skills. Outside of academics, Michael is an avid athlete with a passion for hockey, baseball, and golf. His dedication to hockey is particularly noteworthy, as he aspires to play at a high level in the future.
Beyond his athletic pursuits, Michael is driven by a desire to study business in college and ultimately establish his own nonprofit organization. His goal is to leverage his skills and experiences to create a lasting and meaningful impact on society.
